Percent gain is a calculation of Points Won or Lost divided by Points Played. It is the primary criterion used to rank player performance. To calculate a player’s percent gain for a given play or contest in which a player may select a stake (i.e., wager amount), simply multiply the net amount of relevant points they won by 100 and divide that amount by the amount of the stake.
Percent gain = 100 * Net Points Gain / Stake
Net Points Gain is the total amount of points won or lost minus the points wagered:
Net Points Gain = Points Won or Lost - Stake
Win = Stake * Odds * 1
Loss = Stake * Odds * -1
So, the complete formula is:
Percent Gain = 100 * (Points Won or Lost - Stake) / Stake
Example 1: A player wagers 100 points on a play with 1.5 odds and wins. His percent gain is 50% (50/100 = 50%).
Full formula: [100 * ((1.5 * 100 * 1) - 100) ] / 100
Multiply Points Won by 1 for a win
Example 2: Another player wagers 100 points on a play with 1.5 odds and loses. His percent gain is -100%. (-100/100 = -100%)
Full formula: [ 100 * ((1.5 * 100 * -1) - 100) ] / 100
Multiply Points Won by -1 for a loss
Example 3: The player in Example 2 wagers another 100 points on a bet with 1.5 odds and wins. His percent gain is now -25% ((-100+50)/200 = -25%).
